au•da•cious [aw-dey-shuhs]
What does Audacious mean?
- adjective
1. bold; daring
What is a Christ follower? I think a lot of times most of the world (and half of religious people, for that matter) perceive someone who follows Christ as a passive group of people who cautiously speak and live without conflict, confined to their quiet box. Where does this thought come from?
Why does the world we live in think that because you are a Christian you should be a passive. Could it be because do not live audaciously? Maybe we are living like we have lost the war? Are we portaying to the world that God has no power? Check out what Paul says here in 2 Timothy 3:1-5:
"But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God- having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them."
Paul takes us through a list of what people will act like and do during the last days. Did you catch that last part..."having a form of godliness but denying its power"? When we do not live out our faith audaciously, are we not denying Gods power? It's kind of funny that I've always thought this scripture was speaking about those outside of the church, but the more I study this scripture I realize this is talking about those inside the body of believers. It's describing me! We believe but because we fear the power that God has given us through the Holy Spirit, we have a "Form of Godliness" but never tap into it's power.
By not being Audatious in our faith, we deny the very power God has given us at salvation. How many times to we sit back and wait for someone else to do what we know God has asked us to do?
We say "I just don't know what to do" about this or that, but do we ask the Holy Spirit? He is our counselor. We say "Why is this happening to me?", but He is our comforter.
So now that you know...Stop asking questions and be audacious! Be 80!D [bold].
